Varsity Bar is an American college themed sports bar, locally famous for their mouth-watering buffalo-style chicken wings and big, juicy cheeseburgers.
Varisty Bar in an American college themed bar in Crawley does seriously good ‘dude food’. We’re talking American diner styled food with a twist, hearty and full of flavour with big servings to fill big appetites. They also offer a large cheese burger menu and Mexican-style street food.
Located in Nedlands, Varsity Bar is an American Sports themed bar that opened in March 2013, conveniently located opposite University of Western Australia, making it a popular hotspot for students (which gives it even more of the college vibe environment it’s going for). Varsity Bar is tucked away in a little shopping complex in Nedlands but don’t let its location fool you – this place is pumping and buzzing every night.
The venue is relaxed with a fun, laid back atmosphere, offering plenty of casual mismatched seating arrangements inside and outside.
Inside, I truly felt like I was experiencing American College life as a sorority girl. Here, they believe in plenty of sport, good food and drink, happy staff, the right pricing and listening to their customers.
The vibes here are friendly and casual, making you feel very welcomed. The interior décor is properly American themed. It’s decorated with American flags and the venue shows a range of sport games on the TV screens scattered across the place. If you got a retro varsity jacket, you’d definitely want to wear it here.
To make it feel even more like an American frat house, it’s got pool tables and ping pong, besides the TV entertainment. There’s also an ATM inside.
In regards to the food, every weeknight they have a different special on, which makes them even more irresistible to budget-conscious students in the area.
On Tuesday’s from 5pm-9pm- it’s cheap ‘Varsity Wings’ night. We’re talking saucy Buffalo-style chicken wings with your choice of Varsity Hot Sauce (and by the way, it is hot!) or Smokey BBQ Sauce. And yep, you can bet I went here on a Tuesday to taste them out. I can confirm: the wings were finger-licking good.

- 30 wings + 4 Budweisers for $46
We also got the Cordero pizza, because hey, I’m a woman that needs to eat big. It had on it tomato base, mozzarella, lamb shoulder, maple roasted pumpkin, fired peppers, olive relish and whipped feta. $20 = AMAZING! 10/10 would eat again.
If you’re American, you’ll appreciate their genuine fried pickles and their blue moon on tap. They are also well known for their cheeseburgers and chilli cheese fries. All of which I’ll try next time.

All in all, Varsity Bar is a cool hang out place to chill with friends. Coming all the way from Joondalup, it was worth the trek!! This was my first time at Varsity Bar and I am most definitely returning!
I’ve got a big crush on this place, they do a good job of filling my insatiable chicken wing hunger. With a wide variety of affordable beer, fun themed nights on occasion and hearty food, you can easily see why this place is a Uni students dream.
