Healthy snacking without the guilt! I got the chance to try homemade raw & organic superfood snacks by Sneaky: a small health food business based in Perth.
I love eating healthy and exercising regularly. For the last two months, I’ve specifically been doing weight training with my personal trainer, David. He pushes me physically with a focus on technique and progression; already I feel and see visible results from our workouts together. I’m stronger, leaner and more mentally focused than ever before. So when David told me he had a small health food business with his chef-qualified partner outside of personal training, I jumped at the given chance to sample their food and blog about it on PerthGirl.
The great thing about eating raw, organic food is it comes without the guilt tag. Knowing the ingredients nourish your body and enhance your energy performance makes this kind of snacking really, really good for you.
Before I get into the review, learn more about Sneaky and what makes them stand out from other health food and protein bar producers.
Sneaky is Australian owned and operated by ambitious health and fitness duo Daisy and David. Both are personal trainers with a passion for nutritional wellness, with Daisy also a qualified Chef and David having a Master’s Degree in Nutrition.
Sneaky sells bliss balls, protein bars, snickers and ‘raweos’ (which are hugely popular right now, they look and taste similar to Oreos – except healthier!) and it’s all:
- No added sugar
- With added Superfoods!
Sneaky all started when they both noticed there weren’t many options out there for healthy snacking for those who regularly exercise, eat well and need that energy boost. With ‘health food snacks’ in supermarkets and health food stores often being expensive with odd combo ingredients and eyebrow raising taste, they decided to do something about it.
Bringing together their knowledge and skills, they created ‘Sneaky’ with a mission to provide high-quality snacking products that not only taste amazing, but also nourish your body, give energy and maximise your health and performance. Their range of ingredients boasts cacao, beetroot juice powder, spirulina, acai, nuts, fruits, raw whey protein, spinach powder, cinnamon and more.
– – THE REVIEW – –
The sample tasting box I was given was stylishly presented, coming with a business card and an informative flyer of their popular products with ingredients listed. In addition, when checking out their website, I noticed they also had a Frequently Asked Questions page that gave more detailed answers about their products.
I love businesses that are honest in disclosing full information of ingredients because it shows they have nothing to hide and it’s not all ‘marketing’. Especially in the health food industry, businesses have a responsibility to help educate and empower people to know what they are eating so they can easily monitor their nutritional intake. So awesome work there, Sneaky! I love how informative you are!
In the sample box I received:
- Five bliss ball flavours: red velvet (berry), salted peanut butter, garden of eden (spirulina), turkish delight and jaffa orange chocolate.
- Two protein bars: apple & cinnamon and blueberry muffin.
- Snick Snack Bar: one of their bestsellers, a three-layered peanut chocolate bar.
To help make my review unbiased and more fun, I invited my boyfriend Adam (car enthusiast and skeptic of strange-looking health foods) and his sister, Emily (gym junkie and health food instagrammer) to join in on helping me sample and give feedback. Sharing is caring!
NOW LET THE REVIEW BEGIN! *Dramatic loud intro music*
– BLISS BALLS –
TURKISH DELIGHT BLISS BALL (Trial)
Tahnee – Wow, immediately I can taste the Turkish Delight. It’s very dense, reminds me of candy. I’d say it’s very dessert style that’s nutty and filling.
Emily – To me it tastes quite moist and very juicy. It’s also dense and sweet (but not too sweet). I can taste a bit of berry. Overall, it’s interesting, filling and nice.
Adam – Don’t normally like Turkish delight but I actually liked this. It does taste like the real deal. Dense with a wheaty, coconut taste to it. Very filling, couldn’t eat a whole ball.
GARDEN OF EDEN BLISS BALL
Tahnee- Initially apprehensive with this one, thinking it would be overbearing with the spirulina and spinach ingredients but I actually can’t taste them; not too sweet, just right.
Emily – I prefer this to the Turkish Delight as I find this one to be less coconut-y. Not too sweet, I also can’t taste the spirulina. Pleasantly surprised, love the presentation.
Adam – Not bad. Nutty with a cherry undertone, pleasantly surprised. A very Christmas style product.
SALTED PEANUT BUTTER BLISS BALL
Tahnee – Was so excited for this one! Tastes exactly like peanut butter too! It’s crispy, dessert-style and the sweetest out of the lot so far.
Emily – It’s so yummy and crunchy! Definitely a strong peanut flavour (but it’s nice) and very filling.
Adam – Excited for peanut butter too. This one didn’t disappoint, loved it. This one was sweet, very chocolatey and crunchy.
RED VELVET BLISS BALL
Tahnee – Fan of acai (but unsure about beetroot powder) this one surprised me! I couldn’t even taste the beetroot or the berries, but was still flavoursome to me!
Emily –Excited because I love acai and goji berries! This one isn’t bad, but the taste does get better. Not too sweet. I prefer the green eden to this one, personally.
Adam – Initially can taste the beetroot but more flavours (like the berries) do come through mid to after taste. Quite good. I’m the opposite, prefer this one to the green one.
JAFFA BLISS BALL (Trial)
Tahnee – Excited for the Jaffa one because I remember eating jaffa chocolate balls when I was young. I found these fresh, summery, light, airy and delicious. Can taste the orange zest and cocoa. Already have decided this in my top favourites.
Emily – The presentation nice! I can taste the orange zest but it’s not an overpowering orange flavour. Very morish, I like this one too. I do love a good orange/chocolate for me. This is a good one that likely sells very well.
Adam – This will be a nice one, not overly orange-tasting, a nice balance. I found it to be quite chocolately.
– PROTEIN BARS –
BLUEBERRY MUFFIN PROTEIN BAR, 60g
Ingredients: Raw Whey Protein Isolate, Organic Raw Cashews, Organic Medjool Dates, Organic Dried Blueberries, Organic Dried Cranberries, Psyllium Husk, Stevia, Raw Organic Agave.
Tahnee – Hmm. A bit wet-looking in presentation. Perhaps I should have refrigerated? Very dense and filling. I can definitely taste the blueberries! Quite lovely!
Emily – I love protein bars, they are a great post work out meal. This one is very moist, I wonder how it would have been refrigerated? Smells interesting. Yes, very dense, sweet but not too much. I can’t taste protein powder but can taste blueberry.
Adam – Presentation is eh. But I have to say, it is very, very tasty. Can also taste the blueberries. Nice.
SNICK SNACK BAR, 60g
Ingredients: Medjool Dates, Organic Raw Cashew, Organic Raw Peanuts, Raw Cacao, Psyllium Husk, Stevia, Raw Organic Agave, Vanilla, Himalayan Salt.
Tahnee – OMG! This is the one I’ve been waiting for! Presentation is great, love the three layers, it makes me excited because I know it’s going to be flavoursome and it didn’t disappoint! It was nutty, chocolatey and delicious. Great layers and flavour combo. The texture and flavours compliment each other. This is one that I’d get cravings for.
Emily – Looks exactly like a chocolate bar and tastes like one too. It’s crunchy, salty and not too sweet. Breaking down the layers: the base is salty, the middle is crunchy and nutty with vanilla, while the top is chocolate and sweet.
Adam – Ah, feeling pretty full already but will soldier on! It looks tasty presentation-wise and to me, it actually tastes like flapjack cookies from the UK (they are chewy biscuits made from rolled oats, golden syrup or honey, butter and sugar.) It’s a bit salty, crunchy and very moreish. It seriously tastes like a snickers bar too. I like this one alot.
APPLE + CINNAMON STROLL PROTEIN BAR, 60g
Ingredients: Natural Whey Protein Isolate, Organic Raw Cashews, Organic Medjool Dates, Organic Dried Apple, Stevia, Ground Cinnamon.
Tahnee – Oh this is just a breath of fresh air, I’ve never tasted anything like this before. The cinnamon taste is absolutely delightful. I love how innovative and flavoursome this is.
Emiy – Very nice! I prefer this one to the blueberry actually. Presentation is nicer. I would have loved to see how this would have tasted refrigerated. I’d definitely buy this one!!
Adam – Apple-y, tastes good. In fact, it tastes like a McDonald’s apple pie but without the guilt! I can taste chunky bits, so be careful with teeth. Hands down, my favourite.

My Final Thoughts
What gives Sneaky an advantage over other similar businesses is their home-made, innovative ingredient combinations. Daisy’s culinary skills really shine through; Sneaky food is more creative and innovative in flavour, texture and taste that you really won’t find elsewhere. Plus, it’s still more affordable than your standard protein bar from the health food aisle at your local supermarket.
Another thing I really loved about these snacks is that they are generously hand-made with good quality ingredients in cute packaging. The food is dense, yes, but not in a sickening way. You can really truly taste the ‘home-made goodness’ so to speak.
I was exceptionally impressed with these samples and honestly, and I’m already craving their popular Snick Snack Bar. It’s so damn good. All of their food is addictive and quite frankly, I could snack on these all day.
Thanks for the samples Sneaky – we loved tasting them and would definitely recommend to friends and family. DELICIOUS!
