Kayla Itsines is a famous fitness PT on instagram that is known for successful Bikini Body transformations. She stopped by Perth for a free public bootcamp.

Kayla is a 23 year old personal trainer from Adelaide, South Australia that uses social media to share her health and fitness tips. After getting her personal training certificate from the Australian Institute of Fitness in 2008, she began to work at a women’s only gym. It is there she realised that women were often after just one thing: a bikini body. And so, she created the Bikini Body Guide, a guide that advocates calorie restriction, eating clean and targeted exercise, and from there it took off.
Her Bikini Body Guide is a 12-week program which contains a cleaning eating meal plan and workout plan. The guide recommends that women eat 1,600 calories a day (6720kj slightly under the 8700kj recommended in by the NSW government), with a focus on cutting down sugar and eating clean and simple. The workouts range of 30-minute daily exercise.
Her social media posts have garnered her over 2 million followers on Facebook and over 3 million followers on Instagram. So yeah, she’s kind of a big deal on social media, posting a range of motivational quotes, healthy food inspiration, before and after bikini-body transformations, photos of herself, exercise tutorials, tips and more.

As well as sharing health and fitness related posts, she also lets her followers into glimpses of her personal life, with her long time boyfriend regularly making cameos. So yeah – in summary, she’s got a hot body, seemingly great personality, helps girls around the word transform their bodies, has an awesome work ethic, a successful entrepreneur and a successful, loving relationship. She embodies what all girls dream of having – so it’s no wonder her popularity on social media has soared that she’s been in hot demand.
Today’s Radio Hit Network sent the social media sensation around Australia over three weeks to throw free bootcamps for their radio listeners and general fans of Kayla with Perth being her last stop last Saturday.
On Saturday March 28th, 92.9fm sponsored Kayla Itsines’ Free Public Bootcamp at Sir James Mitchell Park at South Perth Foreshore and it was an obvious success. Around 2,000 perth girls showed up on Saturday morning to sweat it out together – some even lining up from as early as 4:30am. Perth broke the record for highest number of attendees – I was there, I should know, it was pretty packed.

She wanted us to sample what was from her popular Bikini Body Guide and it didn’t disappoint. It worked us hard and it was an awesome feeling being amidst other girls wanting to feel good too on that Saturday morning. The backdrop of Swan River and Perth City made the outdoor free bootcamp even better. It was a great morning, I really enjoyed it. My only feedback is there should have been a large TV screen at the front as I could hardly see Kayla, but otherwise it was a great workout and I like what Kayla’s about – empowering women to exercise, eat healthy and most of all, love themselves.
