Have you tried cold drip coffee before? Had my first taste with breakfast at popular coastal restaurant Voyage Kitchen in Sorrento, Perth. Check it out.
Voyage Kitchen opened in Sorrento in January 2004, with an aim to “provide rustic, imaginative, fresh food, comfortable surroundings, caring hospitality and great value”.
Their food is simple and tasty with a Mediterranean influence for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This place is very very popular, and its not difficult to see why. I went here for breakfast with girlfriends and was very impressed. Here’s why.
The inside is cosy and charming. It had a warm, welcoming and rustic vibe, very suitable for its beach-side location.
As Voyage is directly opposite the ocean, make the most of it in summer and sit outside. It’s also dog-friendly; with many dog-walkers stopping here for breakfast (Voyage staff also leave out a bowl of water for dogs who come and go).
Norma’s Salsa for 18.60 (V) – (does not include pork and sage sausage, that was added in for an extra $5.50)
Poached eggs, roast truss tomatoes, wilted baby spinach, avocado, marinated fetta and ciabatta toast. Delicious and healthy, great presentation, need I say more?
The Voyage Farm Yard Breakfast for $22.80 (pictured above)
Eggs any way, pork and sage sausage, bacon, homemade hash brown, grilled tomato, roasted pesto mushrooms, tomato relish and ciabatta toast. I like myself a ‘big breakfast’, and this didn’t disappoint. So much delicious flavour. The homemade hash browns were a personal favourite.
The coffee here is amazing quality. I ordered the cappuccino and was very satisfied with it. They also have their own house blend, with a combination of coffee beans from Colombia, India, Brazil and Guatemala. For something different, try their Single Origin bean – it changes regularly and is a special selection from just one small region in the world, great for those to discover different coffee tastes from around the world.
So apparently there is this thing called ‘Cold Drip coffee’ (pictured above) – where coffee is brewed slowly using cold water and gravity.
The cold drip coffee is then served over ice with lemon, best consumed on a hot summer afternoon. Not to be confused with iced coffee (which is hot coffee poured over cold ice).
I’ve never heard of this before, so of course I had to give it a try. It has a refreshing taste. With honey on the side it is a very unique full-flavoured and fruity beverage. Give it a try on a hot summer’s afternoon.
You cannot come to Voyage Kitchen without trying one of their healthy smoothies. I consider myself a bit of a smoothie connoisseur, and when I know a good smoothie, I KNOW a good smoothie. It has to have fresh fruit and it has to have hard to pronounce whacky supplement booster super-foods I can add into it to make me feel even more healthier! yazzah!
The Glowing Green smoothie is probably my favourite (pictured above) with it’s mix of strawberry, avocado, banana, kale and chia seeds. Other smoothie choices are the Coco Tropics (coconut water, mango, passion fruit, orange and mint), Happy Banana (banana, yogurt, honey and milk) and Ruby Tuesday (berries, honey, milk and yogurt).
For an extra $1 you can add a healthy supplement boosters with options of maca, spirulina, chia seeds, cacao powder, rice protein powder, goji berries, and agave nector.
Other beverage options include milkshakes, soho sodas, freshly squeezed juices, fresh coconut water straight from the l coconut, T2 tea pots, a big selection of spirits, wine, cider, bear and cocktails.
Outside the restaurant, they have a ‘takeaway’ section for people on the go. Perfect for passerby joggers and people on their way to work.
They also have a nice little selection of morning take-away food. Above is the free range bacon and egg baps. I got one for $5.80. They also sell those raw protein balls in the display window and a variety of other easy takeaway foods.
Voyage is always busy, especially during the weekends, so it is advisable to book. You can book online on their website here.
Great customer service, everyone is super friendly, professional and efficient.
Great food and great customer service… yep, I’ll definitely be back Voyage.
