The bubble soccer (football) craze has spread to Australia. I had a go at playing bubble soccer in an inflatable zorb-like ball with friends in Perth.
If you are a soccer/football fan or perhaps you are looking for a more quirky way to celebrate an upcoming event, look no further than bubble soccer.
This European craze has just hit Perth, and it’s super fun. I tried it the other day for a friends’ 25th birthday and you can ‘bash and crash’ into anybody without hurting them or yourself.
It involves all players wearing full, protective bubble suits, adding an exciting and new game style to the sport. All you have to do is hire out the bubble suits, goals and balls and choose a park in Perth to meet the Bubble Soccer Hire at.
Their bubbles are top quality to ensure you are 100% safe, coming with harnesses and handles so you cannot fall out, and every bubble is checked before use. They are so strong in fact, that they can even be used on gravel if needed.
It was a hot day when we did bubble soccer. The inside got very sticky. Stay hydrated and be mindful of weather when selecting a day to do bubble soccer.
Below, I’m demonstrating how easy it is to insert oneself into said giant inflatable bubble. It’s pretty easy.
These bubbles have safety handles inside of them for you to grab onto while people bump into you aggressively from all angles. This just ensures you are tucked in, safe.
It was heaps of fun and something different. It was a pretty hot day, and people were getting sweaty wearing the bubble suits, but a good time was still had, just be mindful of the sun and keeping hydrated.
Dom and Sam loved it. Then again what men wouldn’t like bashing and crashing into their mates at full speed?
More questions answered according to their FAQ page:
- For aged 15 years and over.
- They have insurance.
- Indoor and outdoor both work, but indoor is prone to slipperiness (outdoor is more recommended)
- You don’t just have to play soccer, can just ‘bash and crash’ people
- Wear shorts, pants, short sleeve top and joggers.
- There has not been an injury worse than a sprained ankle (and that only happened once).
- If it rains, they will contact you to try and re-book, but light showers are fine.
- Do not wear soccer boots as the studs could damage the bubbles.
- No height or weight requirements.
They hire out their bubble suits in a package basis unless you’re in a group less than 10 bubbles. Prices include balls, bubble suits, team shirts, and cones to mark out the field. Prices may vary due to location and/or specifications.
They require 20% deposit to be made before booking is confirmed. Bookings cancelled within 5 days of booking date will lose this refund. The deposit has to be directly transferred into their account. After the deposit they accept direct transfer, cash, Paypal, and credit card payment. Full day bookings for Bubble Bookings are only available for groups who have their own public liability insurance. Please contact them for more information on this. Packages for more than 10 bubbles may be available depending on availability and again contact them for more information. They do cater for bookings that require less than 10 bubbles if required. So what I do it again? Definitely! But not on a penetratingly hot day.
